We are huge fans of repairing and reusing our clothes. This is a little tutorial I (katie) did up as an easy way to prolong the life of your cardigan by adding some pretty elbow patches. Enjoy and comment with any questions.
You will need:
Some pretty floral fabric
Some fusable interfacing (optional, use if your fabric needs to be stronger)
Cardigan
Scissors
Needle and thread in colour of your choice.
Cut two oval patches to cover your elbow
Use your iron to fuse the interfacing to your patches
Cut out each oval when interfacing is completely fused
“We learn who we are from the way others acknowledge, accept, appreciate and believe in us. When we are acknowledged and affirmed, our confidence grows. When we are accepted in spite of our limitations, we learn to see those limitations in perspective and not to hate ourselves for them, but rather to rise above them.
Our challenge is to love others into living to their full potential, into growing to their full beauty.“
Our Through The Lens this week is unwittingly food-tastic!

Here are some of the ‘mega dope’ (thanks Will.I.Am, you rock) things that caught our beady little eyes this week …
Here is the news from the lovely ladies over at Frock Around the Clock. Their last event of 2013.
This Sunday 19th May we will be packing our vintage suitcases and taking our fabulous FROCK AROUND THE CLOCK VINTAGE FAIR to Cookstown’s historic Lissan House for another extravaganza of vintage treasures for sale, glamour, nostalgia and fun for all the family.
This will be our last event for 2013 so we hope you can join us as we are going out with a Bang!
Overflowing with the coolest vintage and retro stuff on the planet, this event is the perfect place to find some Gatsby glamour into your wardrobe and home.
Dandering through Liberty the other day (one of the many treats about living in London) I (Lisa) came across quite a few different products that I fell instantly in love with.
Not much of a surprise you say – it is Liberty! And then, I realised that quite a few of them were from the same company …
“Designer and Lollipop’s founder Rachel Le Mesurier loves the urban wildlife you see on city streets and in London’s parks. Across the range of products you will find pigeons perched on landmarks, squirrels on park benches, sparrows hopping across concrete onto branches and telephone wires. Many of these little characters first featured back in 2003 on Lollipop’s wedding stationery range, with a little tweek here and there they are loving their new home on these products!
Products are produced in short runs, many by hand, in the UK. All cotton is fair-trade, all rubber pressed locally and all paper recycled.”
And so, Handsome and Pretty choose our Favourite Five products from their shop:
A super soft & stretchy 100% organic cotton t-shirt hand printed with a cool outline design and supplied with 8 fabric crayons for you to colour in – all presented in a drawstring bag. The design means the end result will always look fantastic whatever the artistic talent!
We remember at school we would send friends secret notes and then origami-fold them into hearts… which, if you drew ears and eyes on could also look like cute little animals! So we created these new notelets to send secret messages to very special people! Designed to be written on the reverse, then folded and popped into the envelope provided. A beautiful gift set, fun to use and a special surprise to receive…
This tape can be written on – so we designed this one with little banners – pretty enough to leave blank or cut them out and use them on presents as gift tags…I’m sure you’ll find lots of uses for it! Practical and strong – this is not just a pretty tape!
A brand new range of super stylish and very useful notepads, perfect size for writing lists or memos. With a magnetic back so it can be kept on a fridge door or magnetic memo board.
Printed in the UK with lovely vegetable inks onto 100% recycled paper
“Through recognizing the distinction between appearance and illusion, you give yourself permission to acknowledge that some of your perceptions may be wrong or biased, that your ideas of how things are may have solidified to the degree that you cannot see any other point of view but your own.
When I began to recognize the emptiness and clarity of my own mind, my life became richer in ways I never could have imagined.
Once I shed my ideas about how things should be, I became free to respond to my experience exactly as it was and exactly as I was, right there, right then.”
