Wireless Mystery Theatre transports the audience back to the Golden Age of radio, to be AWED! and AMAZED! as they present radio plays live on stage. You are offered a peek through the studio’s perspex glass to watch the live music, the hand-cranked sound effects, the ‘radio personalities,’ and the old-time commercials all as they happen

On Sunday 25th March at 2:30pm The Wireless Mystery Theatre company perform TITANIC VOICES at Coleraine Library …  the show “dramatically recreates the wireless communications on the night the Titanic sank, using both the Titanic logs and those of ships searching for the doomed liner.

Now for something a bit more futuristic …

Global Rainbow is a large scale, spectacular outdoor laser projection created by the artist, Yvette Mattern. It consists of seven parallel beams of high specification laser light, representing the spectrum of the traditional seven colours of the rainbow, and is designed to be projected across large open sites, particularly densely populated areas. With the projection, the artist intends to encompass geographical and social diversity in its reach and symbolise hope.

Presented by amino for the first time in the UK Global Rainbow opens the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad year in three regions of the UK: north east and north west England, and Northern Ireland … Starting on 14 March and ending on St Patrick’s Day, 17 March, the rainbow is being projected from the base of the landmark site of Scrabo Tower. For four nights, it passes over Newtownards, from where it follows the picturesque eastern shore of Strangford Lough and on, over the Ards Peninsula …”

WHERE? The Belfast Barge, Lanyon Quay, Belfast

WHAT? FROCK AROUND THE DOCK is a one-off special event for 2012 – our very own unique celebration of the city that built the Titanic!

Taking place on Sunday 1st April 2012 from 11am to 4pm at the Belfast Barge, Lanyon Quay, Belfast.


Unlike our usual vintage fairs this ‘Made In Belfast’ event will feature creative designers selling handcrafted fashion, jewellery, artworks, furniture and home wares which reflect the following themes:

. Titanic

. Maritime transport

. Belfast – past, present and future

. Edwardiana

. Preservation of the past for the future through recycling of vintage and antique objects

. Old crafts

The majority of goods for sale will be unique to this event and made specifically for Frock Around The Dock and won’t have been available to buy anywhere else! Come join in this celebration of the city that built the Titanic and the creative industry of today, built on the industrial foundations of yesteryear!

And lastly … One of The Black Box‘s regular nights The Carousel is on tonight. Certainly not one to be missed. If you live in Belfast you may have already heard about it.

Experience music in the round, as a group of musicians surround the audience and improvise a full set. Reviews have been fantastic.
