We thought we should share this exciting news about Other Voices … Lots of advance warning so that we can all try to make it to at least one of the performances! NOT to be missed!
“Seminal music television series Other Voices, which is broadcast on RTE 2, has welcomed some of the world’s most eclectic music-makers and captured scores of unique, one-off live performances since going on air in 2003.
Traditionally, the 200-year-old St James’ Church in the tiny fishing town of Dingle, County Kerry, has acted as the show’s main venue. But in 2012/13, the Other Voices music trail will be heading east for two special shows to be recorded in Derry and London over a few wintery days and nights.
Other Voices 2012 will take place, as usual, in Dingle from December 1 – 3. Thereafter the music trail will then head north for a three-day residency at Glassworks in Derry from February 8 – 10, celebrating the city’s status as the very first UK City of Culture.
In April 2013, Other Voices will then visit the heart of East London for a one-off show produced in association with the Barbican. In keeping with a musical tradition nurtured in Dingle over ten years, this three-part Other Voices road trip will showcase the most influential voices in contemporary music – established artists alongside emerging talent.
One of those returning to the fold will be Neil Hannon, who will perform at Other Voices in Derry in February. ‘As an alumni of Other Voices Dingle, it was lovely to receive an invite to appear at Other Voices Derry,’ said the charismatic frontman of The Divine Comedy. ‘Not least because Derry is the city of my birth. It is also the UK City of Culture next year, which I am keen to show my support for.’

Californian Other Voices veteran Jesca Hoop will also make the journey to Northern Ireland. ‘I am genuinely excited to play this year and am so happy to be invited to play in Derry. I played Other Voices Dingle a couple years back and I can honestly say that it was my year’s highlight.’
The full line-up for each Other Voices adventure will be unveiled in the coming weeks. However the producers have confirmed that artists scheduled to make the pilgrimage to Dingle this year include Villagers, Paul Buchanan, SOAK and The Unthanks.
The Derry line-up will include Hannon, Hoop plus Django Django, Marina and the Diamonds and many more.
All Other Voices music trail events are free. Information on ticketing, artists and events will be released shortly. To stay up to date with announcements visit the Other Voices website.”
